Hidden Howth….

After seeing an image on here from a small beach on Howth Head I decided to investigate exactly where it was. So last Saturday week I headed out for sunrise which again didnt deliver much but it didnt matter as I was seriously impressed with the location. Dangerous as feck to get to walking down the cliffs and with the freak 6 foot waves every now and again but worth it. Lighting was harsh… very harsh and these are filtered to hell and back with 5 or 6 stops of graduation over the sky so very contrasty… I will return when my legs are up to it…! Anyway here are a few I got that morning. Shot with 5DMk2 and 17-40L and 70-200F4LIS…
There ye go… You would never think you where so close to Dublin.

Your 2 last shots showing just the stones and rocks are excellent. Your first 2 shots are just sun rises with no great point of interest whereas your last 2 are a subject matter worth studying and enjoying the various colours contained in the stones etc.
Thanks for all the comments. Yes the stones on the beach are really beautiful… Reds, greens, blues and white stones all perfectly washed and positioned…!!! Yes Stewart its the beach just to the North of the lighthouse. If you are thinking of heading out there I would advise you do not go alone. The walk/climb down the steps to the beach is really dangerous and shouldn’t be attempted alone. the beach itself is very tight and if tides are coming in could be really lethal. Be careful…!!!!

thanks for the heads up, but to late, like an idiot i climbed down in the dark to do some night shots, wasn’t after i thought about it later that i released what a stupid thing it was to do, not only did i endanger myself, but if i got stuck some poor guy from the rescue would have to come looking too.
ah well no damage done lesson learned:)

I like the sunrises, the water around the rocks looks good. Sounds like a very tricky place to get to.
Fair play to ye Stewart…!! Not a chance I’d head down there in the dark and no way by myself…!!! hahahaha… Did ye notice there is absolutely no mobile signal down there either. So if one was to get stuck I’d say it’d be a while before you’d be spotted…!

Richie, I seen that shot on here you’re talking about. I tried to find this locations about 3 weeks back. Next time I’m down (visiting the Mammy) I’ll try to find this again.
