A few more as I work through summer photos. All taken at Rifugio Lagazoui high in the Eastern Dolomites…..all feedback welcome. Cheers…….
1. Objective was to capture predawn hues of the landscape….
2. Attempt to create that distant mountain layered look….but it doesn’t feel right….too much sky?
3. Objective was to create a square image……wondering though about the composition
Liam2673Participantsuperb, I particularly like the detail and ligh/ shade balance of the last one.
BMParticipantVery atmospheric – nothing like an early start in the mountains for light and colour (well, maybe Donegal as well …).
I particularly like the third one. I would never have thought of a square format for a mountain landscape – and this really works.
Were you there for sight-seeing or climbing/walking as well?
sprocheMemberThanks for the comments….encouraging ! My wife and I hiked 7 days from hut to hut across a high route, partly on Alta Via 1, whilst a local outfit looked after our luggage down below. If anyone is interested in doing something similar I can provide contact details of the mountain guides we used…..
mgstParticipantDeeboParticipantCracking shots and what a view.
Last one ticks the boxes for me, like the light on the mountain face and the rest in shadows.
Just finished reading touching the void and this brings back the the scale of these huge ridges
DeewirepicParticipantLast shot is excellent. I also like the first one. There’s a touch of an alien landscape about it.

Planning a trip to the Dolomites next year. Any information you have would be great.
Mr.HParticipantAgree with all above… love the third shot… good light and composition. It could benefit from perhaps a little bit of sharpening.
It may also convert well to b&w.
Looks like a great trip… would love to do some adventurous hikes again in the future.
SeaviewParticipantVery nice, the third one would also be my pick excellent light. I would love a trip to the alps but I think any mountain trips for the next few years are on hold.
Dave.
