This is a nice portrait-
very pleasant expression, well caught, however, you asked about the skin smoothing,
and I have to say, I’m afraid I’m not a fan of aggressive skin smoothing techniques,
although I’d love to get my hands on a good portrait lens that helped to do the job for me-
Although I’ve recently been asked for some to be applied to an image,
I ended up reducing skin detail and texture slightly,
and not removing it altogether-
This is only my opinion-
obviously, YMMV, as they say-
Nice picture but to be brutally honest (don’t hit me!) the smoothing on the forehead looks very, very strange, like she had far too much thick foundation on that isn’t blended at the edges.
Now I’m not against a photo edit by any means at all… I do lots of editing and manipulations… but I feel it doesn’t work for this photo.
She has beautiful eyes and the oddness of her skin texture detracts from this.
I find the best way to retouch skin to keep it looking natural is to heal and clone almost pixel by pixel.
I’m not sure what the plug-in you used is but it looks like it did too heavy-handed a job on it.
