MartinOCParticipant
These are a few shot from a trip I made to Hong Kong last week (there is more on my flickr). I have wanted to go there for years having watched so many HK films.
It is a wonderful city for photography, although I was disappointed I couldn’t capture what I saw and felt better (the smells were even more extraordinary).
All hand held and with 35mm fujifilm 400 & 1600.
Any C&C welcome.Martin

aoluainParticipantHI Martin,
Absolutely great set.
The light show looks to have been fantastic, #1 is a really
great shot the lights through the mist is wonderfull.I really love #3 also. dont know why just do, has something
that really appeals to me.DeeboParticipantGreat set of shots Martin.
I can imagine the city has so many things and places to shoot. I would love to visit.
Love the third shot too, not sure why but I like the polished floors, the interaction of the people and the feeling that this is a shot that you had the sneak. I think its the vase and partially out of focus right side.
Really cracking seriesMartinOCParticipantThanks for the comments. It is a wonderful city for atmosphere, especially if you got out to the more Chinese parts.
For #3, it was a bit of luck, I had high tea at the hotel, one of the tourist things to do, and the waiter put us near the door in a great shooting spot.
I got a few good shots off there between cucumber sandwiches and petit fours.Cheers,
Martin
Liam2673ParticipantHi Martin,
Well done, great series. I was in Hong Kong a few years back and my memories of the place would be quite close to what I see in these photos, particularly that there was a big difference between the Kowloon side and the island side, Kowloon side being like Gotham City and the island side on the one hand quite futuristic, but on the other hand retaining a lot of the colonial traditions, and also much cleaner than Kowloon.
The stand out shot for me here is number 3. I remember we had ‘high tea’ in the Ritz hotel over there, it was that sort of place where you would see the scene above, bell-boys at the ready. Great light in this shot and good perspective. Street dining shot also excellent, and the Dim Sum shot……really captures Chinese style dining….
