Pat like your composition, the flowers in the foreground work well and a nice balance to the shot!!
Cheers Steve
GARYNHParticipantNice image – good balance and well composed.
If you want me to be extra picky then …..
There seem to be some sharpening artifacts around the light house – hard to tell at this size.
The grass in the mid-left, it just touches the horizon, causes clashes, would be better to shot from lower/higher to seperate the elements.
Seems it was very windy – so maybe a slower shutter to give more movement to the flowers, or faster to freeze them…Having said all that I would be more than happy to have taken this photo and definatly could not have done better on the day.

TinyMemberfor me, this pic just does not work, and i cant put my finger on why?…. i like the flowers leading to the lighthouse, and yet the lighthouse looks a little out of place……. maybe i’ve had too much caffeine today……. once again.. i’ll stop talking sh*t now
wexkel11MemberHi Pat, Good shot, strong sky. Nice to see a shot from the Slade side. I think, maybe, a tiny crop from bottom and a little more light on the foreground and lighthouse would help. Mike

I like it too. Lovely feel to it. Was down there myself on Saturday last. A lovely, lovely spot is the Hook peninsula.
MartinParticipantI like this one Pat. Very nice Scene. I don’t think your post processing has got the most out of this picture though. With some time you could have a really good one here. I had a quick go, you can see the results below, without the RAW and only working on a small jpeg I am limited but hopefully the below will give you an idea where i would go with the image.
In photoshop i used shadows/highlights box to get more detail in the shadows in the foreground. I then used the wand to select the bottom half of the picture, then used the colour balance to try to bring out the colours. In the color balance tool I selected shadows and upped the greens, then selected highlights and upped the magenta. Then selected the sky with the wand and burnt in the shadows and dodged the highlights….

lousyParticipantThanks Martin you really done the biz there.
My PP does let me down all right. :cry:Pat
DeeboParticipantAgree with Martin, some additional PP would pay off.
I just bought the PS book advised by NFL and it looks superb and very good to follow. Might be worth a peep PatDee
kensutzParticipantNice edit Martin.
NFL it’s a nicely composed shot. If you had a clear sky on the day, it would’ve improved the shot an awful lot. Still it’s a decent shot and not a regular photo of the lighthouse you see time and time again.

Thanks Ken, I too like Martins edit.
