Horse Washing – The Traditional Way (Not 56k Friendly)
-
nfl-fanParticipant
Taken this afternoon at Ballycarney, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford.
Junior and yours truly went for a spin to take in the good weather and take a few snaps. Met these three friendly gents who were more than happy to have their photo taken in return for a print to be posted to them… win-win methinks.
Apologies for the size… my resize app was set to 1024 and not 800… and they were uploaded to Flickr before I realised.
PixelleMemberThe tug-o-war ones are best. Would it not have been easier to fill a bucket a few times, though? Poor horse.
Which one are you sending to them?
nfl-fanParticipantWhich one are you sending to them?
Really not sure yet.. maybe the last one… or this one which is my personal favourite which has my son as well… there’s something I really like about the gent in the middle and the gent on the right… reminds me a bit of something gangster… like the Sopranos or Goodfellas…
PixelleMemberAwww….. that’s a lovely picture of your little lad, doesn’t he look chuffed to be holding the horse!!
MartinParticipantVery nice set of shots, well done to you. Like the post processing on these allot also, works very well

guthrijParticipantsteelydanParticipantGreat set and the one of Dylan is great also. One thing i would clone out that Liverpool shirt………….Joking
summerdreamnMemberamazing set! i really enjoyed this. the first one with the guy with the fairy liquid and the mobile in the other hand. classic.
RobMemberThat’s a terrific set John, well documented. Very nice processing too,
all the images sit well together. Real character to this lot. I like…Rob.
jessthespringerParticipantI love that last picture, the expressions are great. Fantastic set!
Sinead.
aoluainParticipantIt takes a while to load the pictures . . . BUT
They are fantastic !
The processing is brilliant too.
In 20 years time they will be priceless.
Well done NFL.
jb7ParticipantThe seventh, and the last of the first set would stand out for me-
Very good overall though-I do find the processing just a little heavy;
I suppose the intention might be to preload a little nostalgia,
by making them look like faded colour prints,
but I wonder if this is absolutely necessary?I wonder if a mono conversion might fulfill the same role,
but in a more subtle way?j
nfl-fanParticipantThanks for the comments and feedback everyone, appreciate it. Time now to make that print and send it on as promised.

latchikoParticipantFantastic set. You’ve really captured the story – it’s like a step by step “how to wash a horse” tutorial! :)
Love the processing too and the inclusion of the fairy liquid bottle in the first on is genius!Harry LimeParticipantI’m impressed by both the processing and the bravery in approaching strangers like that!
Great set.
