I thought I would share a few pic I took at the Ennis Show in August. Of course it was a typical Irish day – blinding sunshine one minute or overcast the next. I am still working on my manual setting skills and I found it near impossible to keep up and keep the settings correct. Oh well with time and practice I will master them a bit better.
Unfortunately these are only jpeg as I had forgotten to switch to RAW and also some are not the sharpest.
I only had my 24 – 70 Canon L lens as I had sold my Sigma zoom so lots of cropping done. But I have just ordered my new Canon 70 – 200 L lens and fingers crossed will have it next week. Cant wait to take it to some shows next yr.
IsabellaParticipantmy favorite is number 3, its the best exposed combined with the nicest looking horse. they obviously went to a huge effort with their turnout and (he? looks pretty stalliony) has a lovely neck.
AnonymousParticipantSome lovely shots taken. Beautiful animals.
The fourth image though is not level or was it done deliberately?BannerminisParticipantThanks for looking at my pictures.
The Bay horse was Stunning and I think a Gelding but still immaculate in his turn out and all the tack gleamed. In fact they were all turned out beautifully. Driving is taken very seriously and to be judged you do need to be turned out.
The unlevel pic was the horses in motion so might explain plus they were coming by pretty close to the railing and I was up against it. I am lucky that the pics werent all blurry as they drew a big crowd so was being bumped a lot.
I thought I would add a couple more for fun.
The dog in this pic was with the caravan so he ran round with them all through the judging.
AnonymousParticipantBacklightParticipantBannerminisParticipantThank You for your very kind replies. Its much appreciated and I really hope to improve this yr and I am lining up a few friends and hope to do a few shoots of their horses just to practice my angles and the type of pictures I want to achieve. And all going well I might get to a few shows too.
Thats the plan anyway. And I wont be forgetting to shoot in RAW again :D
