House Bound

Hey,
I was in hospital just after Christmas and the doctor still has me house bound.
You might know that I’m going crazy by the number of postings I’ve made and none with photos.
How about some project ideas for someone who, under normal conditions, only shoots people indoors?
I’m a beginner and only have a 35mm f/1.8, simple flash and tripod to use.
thanx in advance,
damien.murphyParticipantSorry to hear Ted, was housebound for a bit myself pre-Christmas, and it gets stale pretty fast.
I would say it is a good opportunity to practice still-life, or perhaps some compositional exercises.
Also, it could be a good time to review your image archive, or start a blog and write some blog posts.
Lastly, may I through in a PI plug, and also suggest writing some articles here for PI, some reviews for the new reviews section, or give yourself something to look forward to and research some upcoming events/ exhibitions and plug them into our new events calendar here.
In any case, hope you’re not off the feet for too long, and back out shooting soon! :)
pelagicMemberDamien,
thanx for the input.
Maybe I’ll write an essay on the frustration of being at the short end of a long educational road. I have a half baked idea on how less experienced PI members could hook up with 3-4 members in a new way. The first would present work and, the second, tutor in a special open forum.
I don’t know what a composition exercise who be? Is that using your kit bag for weight lifting? :D :D
Still life sounds like fun. Name a house hold object I could try to shoot.
shutterbugParticipantTed, take a browse through the still life section, there are some really inspiring
shots in there and a lot of them household, check the macro stuff too!Get better soon :)
damien.murphyParticipantYes, and play around with lighting also. Maybe take a small reading lamp, and use it to light your subject, experimenting and seeing what you can achieve and the different ways in which you can portray your subject. Have fun :)
