i agree with Dan about giving some life into colours…
You obviously have a tripod, that should slow you down… well at least enough to think about composition… that helps…
I honestly have to say that no3 is the best here with nice S composition on the river…
second is bit neither here nor there…
first one, i get the feeling is bit pushed, just to get something… i get this feeling, cause you said you got 700 shots during that day and you like only 10…
The only think i can suggest is try to spend more time on thinking about the composition, and as i read somewhere, “get on the ground, and get dirty” try different perspectives, if you lower camera position you would see the world looks much different from another level, the one you are used to…
dont worry about the filters now… try different lenses, wide angle lens, or assuming you are using kit lens, shorter end would give you different shots than the longer end, try this: try framing your subject in shot with the shorter end and then zoom in to longer end, and use your feet to achieve the same framing of your subject… shots should look different…
just be creative… the other thing about using your feet and learning composition is getting prime lens, with fixed focal length… if you cant zoom with the lens, you need to use your legs to find the shot…
maybe b&w conversions will make the shots you dont like more appealing… I found few of my first shots totally unacceptable at the beginning, quite good after converting them to b&w… just try you loose nothing,..
