How do you jot down idea’s
-
dan.browneParticipant
Hey everyone,
Just wondering how other people jot down their idea’s for photo compositions. You know when you are walking down the street and something catches your eye and you start thinking about how you could photograph it! The mind starts racing and running through ideas. How do you remember these ideas? It’s not always practical to carry and pen and paper around with you! Then by the time you get home to write them down you forget all about it. Can’t tell you the amount of times I have forgotten things!
Are there any apps for Mac OSX or iOS that you can suggest using?
Any help or ideas would be a great help!

IsabellaParticipantinteresting topic….
i always carry a pen and a notebook, when notebook isn’t there i can usually find some kind of paper (receipt/ newspaper something like that) to scribble on. to be honest though i do find it hard to make the time to jot, the mind moves way faster than the hand! even if you have all the things its not always possible to write or accurately represent the idea.
i usually hope that by the time i return or set up whatever it is that the idea will come flooding back. the place will remind you, otherwise you wouldn’t have got the idea…. I’m sure I’ve lost many good ones with this approach.
can’t help you with apps, my phone is very basic.
Green MeanieParticipantEvernote is a great application as I am an empty head when it comes to remembering stuff.
There’s an iPhone app that you can just fire notes, links, voice memo and pics into and you can access these from any PC or http://www.evernote.com” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false; or if you have the desktop app on your PC. Flip side is if you see somthing of interest on your PC, create a new note and it appears on the phone.
“Remember Everything” is their tag line
damien.murphyParticipantVery interesting thread, and something that is never far from my mind. In my opinion, there is only one maxim, and that is an idea not recorded immediately, is more than certainly doomed to be lost.
I try to carry a very small notebook around, in which to jot down ideas, but to be honest, if it is not ubiquitous then again it is not an effective solution. Best solution in my book is the combination of a note-taking/ text app and also a voice recorder app on your phone, as most people will usually have their phone with them at all times.
On a more lateral note, I sometimes find words not the most effective way to capture ideas, and have long yearned to be able to sketch quickly, as a way of encapsulating what is in my mind.
