Hey all,
My first post…i bought a canon 450d about 3 weeks ago…first camera since the fisher price days :) …still very overwhelmed by it to be honest…really need to get my head around so many ideas, shutter speed, dept of field etc, etc..probably went into much technically/financially over my head..all well, may as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb as they say!….I’m reading the manual as much as possible but i’m looking for some recommendations on dslr books…nothing to complicated, but something that gives a good of the general concepts….a big ask i know!!!
I’ll start posting my (bad! ) pics as soon as i figure out how!
Take care,
Pablo!
GCPParticipantWelcome along and enjoy the site. I have one of these cameras also and use it for light work and its great.
I really have it as a backup to my 1Ds mk II and the 5D which are now both over 2 years and I’m always
afraid of a let down. The 450D is a nice machine.MartinOCParticipantHi Pablo,
Nice camera, I have a 400D and I am very happy with it. A good book to start with would be “Understanding Exposure” by Bryan Peterson, it explains the main things ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed.
Probably best to start in P mode and figure out changing the focus point. After that try Av mode, its the most used mode. But where to stand and where to point the camera are most important, so best to get out there snapping..
Good luck,
Martin
ossie13ParticipantshutterbugParticipantWelcome to the site Pablo, first slr can certainly daunt the beginner,
my suggestion is to put it on auto and get the feel of it once you see the
great pictures you can produce will give you the confidence to try aperture or
shutter priority and from there is a short step to manual, the main thing is to
enjoy it. :)photospecMemberWelcome to the site. I too, am new to this forum and have found the wealth of coleective knowledge here is awesome. I woulod suggest a book published by Focal Press called Canon DSLR, The Ultimate Photographers Guide. Very informative.
Enjoy!
