How’s it going lads

Hi everybody,
Seems only polite to introduce myself as so many others already have. I’m originally from Cork and now, due to a powerful need to eat and have a roof over my head, have settled in Dublin on a contract with a software company. I bought my first camera about 2 years ago, it was a Fuji Finepix S5500, and initially I liked it. After about a year, I loved it and never left the house without it. Over the last 2 years I’ve learned a lot through trial and error. I’ve recently upgraded to the Canon EOS 400D and it’s uh . . . quite an upgrade. If I learned a lot with the Fuji, I think I’m about to undertake some sort of informal bachelor’s degree program with the Canon.I’m prone to thinking philosophically, being reluctant to take photos of strangers and biting my nails.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to joining in with the monthly contests and learning alot from all of ye.

earthairfireParticipantWelcome aboard, Cian.
Love the “dark clouds” shot in your portfolio – stunning!
As for the 400d – leave it on auto until you get the feel for the other buttons, and then slowly work your way onto the semi auto-modes (aperture / shutter) priority, and if you feel like it go for the full plunge at the end and use the magical ‘M’ setting.
You’ll soon feel at home – they’re great when you get over the initial shock of the number of buttons!!
If you get stuck at all, feel free to shout, as I’m an avid Canon user, and am based in Dublin too.

BanjoParticipantWelcome Cian, like myself upgraded to a Canon 350D. Big difference. Working the ins and outs at the mo. Practice and experiment works for me. Enjoy :)
