    Unfortunately, both of your images suffer from flat light and I would say that the skies are a bit featureless also.

    As a record shot, the first shows potential, as I think the composition is excellent for when you return in better light.

    The second suffers somewhat from the chaos of vegetation on the LHS and to a lesser extent on the RHS. Tree vegetation is notoriously difficult to photograph effectively unless you can find a very strong subject to place within it. Although the hedge does act as a focal point to lead the eye in, I don’t think it is stong enough here to carry the image.

    Thanks for the pointers Andy, the sky was overcast alright….typical :wink: I’m here to learn so all tips are welcome.

    I like the first one too. With a gradient adjustment layer you could darken/get detail in the sky. Enough to rescue it I think.
