Not really a photo for critique as such(though fire away) but more of a question regarding lens choice…….This is a crop from 125mm taken with a Nikon 70-300 4.5-5.6VR…………..1/1000sec F5 ISO 500…….Something dont look right to me with all my sports shots and I cant seem to put my finger on it…….Should / Could this be sharper or is it the lens that Im using???? Am thinking of a Nikon although Sigma being realistic 70-200 2.8.

The obvious low light capabilities of this would be great but would anyone think it would be an advantage re sharpness???

PS There was a minumul processing with this shot…..Some exposure adjustment and contrast in Lightroom and then the unsharp mask in Photoshop 30%

Not too sure what you can not put your finger on, images looks fine to me, every thing you need is sharp, because his feet are not in the shot, I might have cropped it up a little higher, otherwise it looks good to me..

Thanks Fordem for taking the time…..I have a few football ones from yesterday too where players ran so close very quickly and I missed the feet too….So cropped to “body shots” like you advised and look a lot better thanks.
