    Cheers Noely –

I’ve only processed about 10 so far… still another 100 or so to go and I know theres a few better one’s in the batch.

I sat by the feeder in me deckchair for about 6 hours today – after about 3-4 hours the Goldfinch basically had a meeting, held a vote and it was a unamimous decision “that bloke in the deck chair – he might be ugly, but he seems pretty harmless, lets hit the feeders”. I was within 8ft and they were in their element scoffing nyger seeds. Sun was very harsh though and they’re really hard to get a good photo of irrespective of the proximity.

    Hi John,

As a person who only has birds in shot by accident I profess
    no competence here.

To my eye these are lovely.

Catchlight in the eyes, nice DOF…. Yeah… Class.

The patience to wait for the shot/s & a bit of comedy as well.

Not starting a fan club, just calling a spade a spade.

    Time to go.

    Well done,

    John.

I agree with Noely here, they are excellent shots and are well worth taking a break from the GCP. Number 2 above is my pick of the bunch, detail is excellent.

I think they’re all excellent, the exposure looks spot on too, especially in No.2 where you have blacks and whites with detail in them both.

Beautifully captured John. Love the colours, especially the rosey red breast. You must have a nice ‘ranch’ to attract them all. All the mean mister crows and magpies scare away the smaller ones here. (it’s pretty built up where I live) Oh and by the way, well done for building the rapport with the birds too!

Super shots, I’d love to attract those kinds of birds into my garden, any tips on what to feed them?

The nearest they get is the neighbours tree – 40 yards away!!!

Thanks everyone… I’m very surprised with the amount of acknowledgements, I thought they were OK but a bit harsh due to the strong sun.

Cathal – Just a few Cokes pal. Burnt today, a bit sore but nothing like the Saltees Scorching of last year.

Andy – Different birds like different things. The Coal Tits, Blue Tits & Great Tits like peanuts, the Greenfinch will go with peanuts or nyger seeds, the Goldfinch love the nyger seeds, Chaffinch likes peanuts and regular seed. The Dunnocks will eat anything, just not from a feeder, usually from the ground but one actually nibbled on the bird table yesterday.

I have a small bird table which I’ll put a bit of everything on (peanuts, scraps of bread, sunflower seeds, mixed bird seed), then a large peanut feeder and two nyger seed feeders (usually a queue for the nyger so had to upgrade to facilitate).

    Thanks again everyone.
