i was recently given a print out of this tutorial . if you scroll down to “conclusion” ( ’bout halfway down ) there are 2 very handy tables drawn up that provide you with hyperfocal distance based on any focal length / aperture . one table is for crop sensors , the other for full frame . print it , laminate it and save yourself alot of headaches! :D
i have three at this point, just type in hyper focal in the app store…
some have a nicer interface… its all just a gui for some simple (if you’re a computer) equations…..!!
make sure you get one that considers format. this is important as most of the printed tables are for 35mm, which doesn’t work for crop sensors… or hasselblads….
If you’re using a camera system that’s manual, for me its the Xpan, then the best & only hyperfocal distance chart I need is on the lens barrel. Everything that’s on that list, is listed on the lens barrel.
Hyperfocal stuff sounds tricky at first, but once you get down to it, it’s easy & straightforward. Unfortunately not everything you shoot will be as easy!
