HypoDOF – Free Hyperfocal Depth of Field Calculator

I’m trying to get to grips with the Java Mobile Platform (J2ME) at the moment and wrote this little application in order to improve my skills. This has probably been done before and I’ve only tested it on a Sony W880i (MIDP2.0).

Calculating the hyperfocal distance is useful if you want to work out which objects in your photo will be in focus given distance to the subject, the focal length and aperture. This website explains it pretty well – http://www.dofmaster.com/hyperfocal.html

    Download here – http://sites.google.com/site/hypodof/

If you get it working I would be grateful if your could post your phone make and model.

Reply here with any bugs, feature requests, etc.

    Edit: Tested on W880i & Nokia N95

seems to work fine as a direct download to my n95. Haven’t compared it to a depth of field table to check the accuracy of the calculations.

I’ve fixed the website address to PI in the help screen and also a small bug in the effective focal length (it wasn’t formatted to two decimal places).
