Rob, these are quite simply the best quality bird shots I’ve seen on this forum
The texture and colours are superb….my compliments :wink:fishjam45ParticipantHoly Crap!!!!
Absolutely cracking shots! I took a few myself of a Pheasant on Sunday, nothing compared to those shots though! Im glad I didn’t post them now, thank god!
ExpresbroParticipantEchoed here Rob. Fantastic shots. So vivid and super sharp. Where these taken with the new lens?
jb7ParticipantPretty fab Rob,
amazing colour and detail-
Are you dressing up as a tree?
How are you getting so close?
Can you grunt and squeak and squawk with the animals? The second one is amazing,
looks like its caught in its own little sunbeam-Top stuff-
j
beefParticipantAs said above Rob, these are just brilliant! First one for me also, he’s almost posing for you and showing his full range of colours…
Cheers,
BeefRobMemberThank you all for your kind comments.
Noely, I’m a little taken aback by such high praise. That means
quite a lot coming from you.Robbie, these were taken with my 50-200mm f/2.8, all of
them 1/800s f/3.5 at 200.0mm iso100.Joseph, second one is my favourite because of that light coming
through the hedgerow. Almost didn’t post it because the bird was
facing away from me. Glad I did now. Thanks again everyone…
Rob.
Madra RuaParticipantAmazing shots Rob! Very well done indeed.
The detail in the texture and feather markings in the first one remind me of a japanese paintingValentiaMemberExcellent shots Rob. I have been told about Headford early in the morning. I must get myself down there soon. After the election of course…….
RobMemberThanks Hauke. I see what you mean about the Japanese painting.
Never noticed it at the time.Cheers Danny. If you do go to Headford, head out to the back of
the course on the old Kells to Kilberry road. The Blackwater runs
through that part of it so there are plenty of waterbirds and such
to feast your eyes on. Best of luck in the elections btw…Rob.
richiehatchMemberThese are super Rob.. lovely colours and details in them all… Very sharp too…! They really are stunning birds.. With a lot of these birds being hand reared since chicky stage they can become a bit tame…. especially if ye know where to look… poor f*ckers… they will get a little bit too close to someone shooting a different type of weapon someday…!

RobMemberCheers Richie. Thanks for the info too. I was wondering why I was able to get
so close to this bird without it flying off.Rob.
