As title says.
Been takeing photos now for over two years. And have been
Using a canon 400d. With 18-55 kit lens. And also for the bike raceing I use 55-250 is
Now I wanna up My game. Looking for a new camera and can’t make up my mind what camera to
Go for.I’ve narrowed it down to two I really like.
Canon 7d
Canon 5dmk iiI’ve tried to look at what what would be better for me but both have there pros and cons
Sports and landscape are the things I like to shoot.
The 7d would be good for sport with the faster shutter speed and the AF is meant to be fast but low MP
Then the 5dmkii would be good for landscape withe the full frame and better MP but the AF is ment to be slow.
So I don’t no what to do stuck between a rock and a hard place :-(So if anyone that has owned one off these are even both what was you true review.
I no I will need a new lens but will prob go for a deal with a new lens.
BallymanParticipantThose two cameras are at opposite ends of the spectrum :)
If you want to do sport, any kind of sport or anything that moves then the 5d MkII is no use to you as it’s focussing at speed is diabolical and the 7d is streets ahead of it in that regard.
However if you want to do anything else then the 5D MkII is in a different league in every way to the 7D. Better image quality, more MP, better ISO capability, better Video capture, Full Frame. The focussing is chronic though. You can’t get away from that so it’s useless for sport.
There is a solution for you though. You could get yourself a 1D MkIII which is a combination of everything the other two have to offer including even better focussing and lots of other little improvements also. It has no video capture and the 5D has more MP’s but to be honest you will probably never need more MP’s anyway. I have a 5D MkIII and I only use the mRAW setting on it for 10MP as I can’t find a reason to have files any bigger than that.

Would love to go down the road off 1ds mk iii but it’s big money. I no u get what u pay for but think its out off my price range.GrahamRParticipantI would say to hang on a bit and see if any truth to the rumour of a new Entry level Full-Frame.

Fall 2012
Once again, we hear about a new “entry level” full frame camera being added to the Canon lineup in the fall. The specs for the camera have been quite broad, which is normal when there are various prototypes out and about. Below are the most talked about specifications, and probably the closest to the actual camera.Specifications
22mp (Same sensor as 5D3)
19 AF Points
4fps
ISO 100-51200
3″ LCD
Smaller than the 5D Mark II
More Plastic than metal in the construction
Pop-Up Flash (On at least one prototype)
$1999 USD at launch
Launched with a new non-L full frame kit lens (Undisclosed what the lens is)
Compatible with full frame STM lenses_____________________________________________________________________________
If it comes out and you don’t like it then you might find a few 5D MK2’s and 7D’s on the 2nd Hand market for those who are going to switch to it.

The Fine PrintMemberjust ask yourself whats “wrong” with your existing camera. Some of the world’s “best” photos have been taken on equipment that is now seen by most consumers to be obsolete. If you must spend money, do it on a nice lens. Dave Burnett covered the London Olympics with 2 Canon 5DMkI bodies, a Speed-Graphic and a Holga.
