Best be careful with that one John… Joe Elway will be calling for a ban on Cricket next… due to the violence it brings to the bird population.

John.
Alan RossiterParticipantAny sport that stops for tea and bad light, or plays for 5 days and still ends in a draw really needs to be questioned.
Bring on conkers!!

I still think that cricket is boring.
… that’s because you’re Irish!
PeteTheBlokeMemberIt’s always a source of amazement to me that people say cricket is boring.
If they understood it, they would know that it’s not boring. They are prepared
to say it’s boring without understanding it. That’s just ignorant.I can’t see the fascination of golf, but I’m prepared to accept that some people
absolutely love it. I find F1 racing completely confusing, but if it bores me that’s
because I don’t make the effort to understand what’s going on.Foopball is the one I struggle with most. I could watch “a hundred best goals”
all day, but when I sit through a 0-0 draw it puts me off until the next World Cup
comes round. One of my mates nearly got killed on Saturday (broken back, compound fractures
of the legs, broken ribs etc.) when he fell off a cliff. I’ve been trying to explain to
people what it is that makes climbers go climbing. It’s just as difficult, in many ways,
as explaining what makes cricket so great. In the end I just give up –
if you don’t get it, forget it :)guthrijParticipantMarkKeymasterI too thought it was boring, until a few years ago I was laid up sick for a couple of days
and with nothing else on telly to watch, I ended up watching cricket. Its surprising, once you give it a chance, get to know the rules, just how interesting and enjoyable
it can be.nfl-fanParticipantI understand the rules… but I still find it a bit boring.
I used to watch when ill… the odd 10 minutes here and there when they used to show it on BBC2 and Channel 4 during the day. I also watched a bit the odd time with an ex-girlfriend’s father back in the day… just to be polite.
I’d watch the odd bit of Bowls on BBC2 as well… another boring sport that you find yourself glued to for 10 mins when ill.
To make it interesting they need to start playing that tune they play in darts between each leg where everyone stands up, waves their arms about like a pillock and then sits back down to their lager & fag whenever someone cracks a 6… or the bowler wallops the batter in the goolies.

I’d say we’ve mostly nightwatchmen around here.
Alan RossiterParticipantNo, sorry, no…I can’t take to it at all. Rules or no rules you have to look at the whole picture. A load of lads standing around hoping to catch a ball that 2 guys with bats may hit in their direction. They tap the ground to flatten it, 1 guy throws the ball…and they call it a sport? Baseball is similar but more than 2 guys can run at a time.
“England have gone off to a great start – they won the toss”…come on! It’s hardly headline stuff. And you hear of injury fears…huh? Can he not stand and wait to catch the ball like the others?
At least they’ve gone from the holier than thou white uniforms with the tank-tops…sure anyone would know that grass is a b**ch to get out of a white trousers. And what’s “Howzat” all about?Nah…all too civilized for me I’m afraid.
Alan.
nfl-fanParticipantThat being said…
Wonka enjoys Cycling… skinny blokes in bright skimpy outfits, with a saddle so slim it could give you constipation or worse again… a bigger arse crack.
Cycling to me is even worse than Cricket… the only time its good is when there’s a massive crash… other than than I’d rather watch paint dry.
Another Assumption – PeteTheBloke says he doesn’t watch telly… so we must assume he listens to the Cricket on his wireless? Ah.. the excitment of it all.
Nobody need mention the NFL… it’s all be said before… Rugby players with pads… timeouts… one team for offense, one for defense… etc.
