I posted this photo up about a year ago and never found out what the bird was for sure.
Anyone care to try again??
Immature gulls are difficult. The “window” of pale feathers in the primary feathers
suggests either great black-backed gull or herring gull. The tail band hints at herring gull but
it’s not very clear. I’d say juvenile (1st winter) herring gull.
