Sorry, folks. I’ve not been on for AGES and been going through the forums and i’m either laughing out loud or trying to throttle my computer. Is it just me?
What would yours say?
I haven’t noticed people being adverse to critique on the site recently, actually I think it is pretty good for that. Perhaps you are looking around different parts of the forum to me.
There was one big brouhaha a while ago, but that wasn’t about a negative critique per se, but a post which seemed, with its choice of words, to be mean-spirited.
Who is to say a photo is crap or not. If a photo doesn’t work for me it is best to say why I don’t like it, why I don’t think it works, perhaps make a suggestion etc.
One can of course completely slate a photo without being rude, if it is to help out the poster. If someone doesn’t seem to like negative critique, I’d just ignore their c&c posts.My status update would be: “MartinOC thinks tough but well meaning is the way to go. Nothing wrong with saying ‘great photo’ sometimes, but ‘crap photo’ I don’t think so.”
Oh the thoughts if PI was like Facebook…
