im more into my camcorders but i’ve decided to buy a camera

hey,
im quite into using a camcorder but i’ve started to get an interest in photography
im looking at the canon eos 400d, it would be my first serious camera. is there any things that i should be aware of if im wanting to get good outside shots, such as lights, lenses etc?What sort of photography are you interested in taking outside ?
Landscape, portraits, street, documentary etc…or even recommendations for a suitable camera for taking pictures of people. i dont want to limit myself to only outside shots but it’d be people that id be taking pictures of.
