Image manipulation and editing software

For those of us that can’t afford Photoshop, try out The GIMP: http://www.gimp.org

This is an Open Source (hence, free) image manipulation software package. It has all the features you’d expect: layers, colour balance, intelligent cutout, curves, etc. and is FREE.

If people are interested I can post up a couple of quick tutorials on how to use the main features: most of the features are similar to Photoshop so the tutorials should tranfer well.

It’d definitely be useful to have a few gimp tutorials. For those of you who like the feel of Photoshop, there’s also GimpShop, which is just The GIMP tweaked to have a Photoshop-esque feel to it.

If you’d like to see what the GIMP is capable of, take a look at http://inphotos.org/ – all my photos are prepared and processed in the GIMP!
