Image rendering in Bridge CS3

Am using photomerge on CS3 to create some panorama studies & wondering what is the best method of speeding up the image rendering on Bridge due to the large file sizes ?
Am using mac pro 3.1 4gb 2xquad & some of the files are up to 1-1.5gb on completion due to processing techniques used .Would increasing ram improve processong speed ?

okay not totally helpful, but I tend to put my pictures on to the laptop and start batch or slow processing while traveling to the next shoot. This way when I get home I work on actual processing where I am needed rather than sitting waiting for ages. I also have made dinner and opened a drink while doing batch work.
I also change image quality depending on what is the end use of the shot and what size I need it to be sometimes I shoot in Large jpg and RAW sometime only shoot in small jpeg and this does seem to speed stuff up
More RAM and/or a secondary scratch disk for Photoshop to use will work well.
If you have only a single HDD in your machine, then you have to use that as a scratch disk, but if you had a second HDD, you should use that as your primary scratch area.
are the pannos flattened?
cos you could store the layered versions elsewhere and render the flattened ones with bridge?

I stopped using photoshop for merging because it is so memory hungry.
I use the far simpler Canon software for the initial merging and then import into Bridge and photoshop.Pete
i’d also recommend not using bridge for rendering panoramas, especially big panoramas. i use autopano pro(it’s more than decently priced 99euro) – http://www.autopano.net . this software supports GPU processing: so if you have a good graphics card it will speed thing up quite considerably.here’s what they say about performance http://www.autopano.net/wiki-en/action/view/Enhancing_Autopano%27s_performance
i also recommend upgrading to a professional graphics card if you want to speed up photoshop or any other professional editing software. i’m using quadroFX580. i can say i definitely noticed an increase in performance since upgrading (i’m using mostly photoshop).
Gerry, as Paul said earlier, try not to use your operating system hard disk as your Primary Hard Disk for Photoshop/Bridge, and don’t forget you can set multiple drives as scratch disks..at least in CS4…and I think in CS3 too. If you have fast external Firewire drives, count them in too.
