I like the composition Dave. Nothing to complain here about it. The light is nice too.
Maybe the image should be sharper. Did the waves moved your tripod? And, if you don’t mind my comments already, there are two dust spots on your sensor – upper left hand side of the image, where the clouds are.
Good effort anyway!
markclehaneParticipantWould have expected more comments on this to be honest so I’ll give my penny’s worth.
It is a nice image alright but as DanB mentioned, the foreland looks a bit soft – now whether this is down to movement or focusing on the wrong point I don’t know. I do like the sense of movement though and even though it’s hard to tell, it looks like you got down nice and low as well?
Personally, if it was my shot I’d convert it to B&W but I’m a B&W fan anyway so a little biased :D I just did a quick version myself, giving it an infrared type look and much preferred it. That’s a matter a taste though. Finally, and this is really being picky as your composition is good, I might crop a tiny bit off the sky. Some will argue against that I know but it’s just my opinion.
I hope you don’t find my comments too harsh but I felt your shot deserved some critique. Looking forward to seeing more posts soon.
Mark.texMemberI just wonder is this type of shot has become too cliche. Almost every second sea shore shot that I see has the same ingredients, stone or rock in the foreground , water rushing in and out around it, a foreland and various types of sky giving lighting effects. It will take an exceptional shot to get a responce these days and I’m afraid while this shot is nice it does not fall into that category.
Could I also suggest that the depth of the sky is reduced by half.daveyboyParticipantthanks for all the comments lads, will be careful of tripod movement and will try a b+w convert next time and will keep on shootin and one day i will have that WOW shot.
