Have to agree – excellent timing involved here. What makes it for me is the eyes locked on the ball, with the arms ready to strike. This type of shot would do very well in competition, in fact one of the star prints I saw in NIPA last year was a similar shot only in ladies hockey.
I’m going to join in the applause on this image. Timing, focus, exposure and expression are all perfect!!! If I had to nit pick, I’d say the only weak part (and this is nit picking) is the fact the top of the hurl is slightly cropped off.

Ciaran I would have to agree with you although from the look on determination on the Hurlers face I would assume tht the sliothar would be leaving the stick at a great speed and there weren’t any chances for a second shot. A definite winner and would grace any sports paper or magazine. Well done Photoman
