Interesting locations

Does anyone know of any good (underused) & interesting looking locations around dublin for a photo shoot (indoor or outdoor/nightime or daytime)? No particular criteria beyond that really – just bored and looking for peoples recommendations on anywhere interesting.
ciaranParticipantgerardkParticipantNo particular sort of pictures at this point as it would depend on the locations that people throw out and I dont want to limit the sorts of suggestions people might come forward with. Better to do that later from my point of view. If it was suitable (and I had checked it out first) then it could end up being used for some model shots too but at this point no real specific criteria. Just looking to see if anyone knows of any interesting looking places – indoor outdoor, better suited to day or night etc Could be funky buildings, an interesting cove, an unusual looking building in progress, an old building open to the public any and everything welcomed. Not a very specific question but there ya go !
jlangParticipantThey were hay-baling in the Phoenix Park yesterday evening and I thought a park sunset with bales in the foreground might be a good shot. The Phoenix Park isn’t undershot by any means, but this is only a one-week-a-year sight. I saw this on my way out of town but was running late and when I was coming back at about 10, the sun was just finished going down in the west and it got darker as I scouted a good spot. I’m no farmer, but they tend to leave the bales for a few days before gathering them so I might get another chance.
gerardkParticipantciaranParticipantIt’s a pretty broad question, but here are some locations:
o Old campus, NUI Maynooth
Lots of old buildings, churches, structures, statues, nice old brick walls. Has nice gardens too with lots of trees forming natural lines. There are plenty of places where you can be away from everyone if needs be. There’s also pretty easy access to some of the buildings inside for indoor photos if you need (think long hallways, big windows, lots of natural light)
o IFSC, Saturday/Sunday morning
On weekend mornings this place is dead and is ideal for photos. Very urban/modern buildings, lots of empty spaces, interesting architecture, water features, lakes, old cranes etc. Also very good at twilight when the lights are starting to come on.
o South Bull, best in the evenings
Has really gritty old buildings for a run down urban look, a great backdrop of the pigeon house and some spectacular views of the industrial part of Dublin docks. Lots of real Dublin people too.. so good for character type shots if thats what you’re looking for.
There are 100s more I can think of (Moore Street, Smithfield Market, Howth Pier, Busaras) but it does really depend on what sort of shoots you’re looking for.
FajitasParticipantBroadstone Garage, in Phibsboro.
When you drive up, you’ll only see the Dublin Bus section of the garage, but turn to your left and you’ll see the Bus Eireann side…There’s some nice derelict houses there, along with an old state building. Can be a bit dodge though.
gerardkParticipantThanks for the replies – I have actually been round IFSC early weekend morning and it is excellent alright. Hadnt thought of maynooth so I will probably check that out (been years since I was out there) and it sounds interesting.
