Iran revisited
-
ciaranParticipant
I’ve been reading up on sharpening and local contrast enhancement recently and have been revisiting some old shots. Here’s one from Iran back in 2007 – makes me want to go back! Comments welcome.
If anyone is interested, I’ve detailed the processing in my blog: http://www.thewonderoflight.com/articles/?p=474
PD_BARBSParticipantFrom a total novice perspective, this is a stunning shot.
The eye contact from the child really makes it in my view. I also really like the DOF and tones.
Thanks for posting the processing, must give it a try.
MarkKeymasterVery very engaging Ciaran. Love it, can’t say much more other that I think a PI trip to Iran is in order…
Right. I’m off to read your blog now :)
wesleylawMembervery engaging it certainly is. has a quality about it that i dont know how to pin-point. very 3d. I am enjoying your blog too. Well done on getting your F.
Mick451ParticipantmgstParticipantFantastic shot and those eyes really draw you in and aslo had a look at your blog some very intresting reading there.

Alan RossiterParticipantI tried your tutorial – damn difficult to get results like you have, I’m afraid. If I followed them without making suitable adjustments I got a pebble dash effect with artifacts. Keep trying, I guess. Although the progressive sharpening does have a great result by itself.
Alan.
Broadford1ParticipantDeeboParticipantLovely shot and very good connection between you and the kid
Like the shots on the site too, esp the second last one with the dude and long beard. super shot and stacks of detail
DeeciaranParticipantCheers everyone.
For those of you that are trying out the processing method, but can’t quite get it to work, you can download my Photoshop actions from here:

Alan RossiterParticipantHuh? Now he tells us!
 Thanks Ciaran. I generated some of my own but I’d be interested in these to see where I went “wrong”.
Alan
MarkKeymasterPD_BARBSParticipantAlan RossiterParticipantI tried the Octave sharpening and it was set up similar to the macro I had put together. I think it suits some images and not others. Yours obviously thrive on it. Still, thanks for the others too…the defog one I hadn’t got right initially.
Alan
RobMemberBeautiful shot Ciaran, and the article makes interesting reading too.
Thanks for that…
