The first round of the Irish Downhill MTB National Points Series from Rostrevor on Sat. I wasn’t really feeling it, and my flashes wouldn’t fire more than 4 feet away – damn ebay triggers! Just one of those days! Probably the only shot of merit all afternoon – and its overexposed!!

Very good Pete, like the light, maybe a tad on the harsh side but good.. maybe a tad over sharp as well?
Love the eyes, the movement in the front tyre and the dirt in the air.

You ever convert any to mono?

    Sinead.

Cheers Sinead – the light was so harsh, and my flash wasn’t firing to fill in the shadows. The light was coming from hard right. As the riders hit the jump they were in dark shadow in the trees. Some launched big, and were still in the air as they hit the sun, and others had landed while they were still in the shadows. Impossible!!

It could well be oversharpened though it looks ok on my screen. I’ll take a look before I print it, if indeed it ever gets to the printers.

I don’t normally convert to mono for these. Occasionally for atmospheric/detail type shots. But usually the riders like to see themselves in full race strip technicolour!
