Irish Kart Championship from Whiteriver

A couple of shots from Whiteriver Kart Circuit. It was a round of the Irish Karting Championship.

Racing with your eyes closed or captured mid blink?

The shot isn’t sharp enough but talk about making eye contact, this driver was more intent on watching me than the track.

Really like the first one the cart is nice and sharp and great panning. As you say the second isn’t sharp but that is some look he is giving you.

Thanks Sodafarl, I used the D80 with a new 70-200 f2.8. I’m pleased with the results. 2nd shot was purely about the look the driver was giving me, it’s a pity it’s not sharp enough.

Karting is great to photograph….lunatic youngsters with no respect for anybody else on the track…running across the track during a race to change positions…and it’s harder to photograph than F1 because of the speed and how close you are to the action! So much fun!

As with most forms of motor-sport it’s difficult to catch those incidents/accidents but with the juniors you probably have more opportunities to catch that *action* shot.
The Whiteriver Park circuit has plenty of gradient changes and locations close to the track for taking different types of shots. The karts are quick but I’d imagine F1 is more difficult to photograph particularly if you’re close. With karts you always see some action unlike F1 and it’s local and accessible.
