Is it worth repairing? how much would it be? who would do it

My by now quite old canon 28-135mm is starting to pack up.

The IS unit has gone and the lens has gotten very very soft. Stopping down doesn’t help either.

The lens is quite old, has a fair bit of play everywhere, has been dropped once or twice.. or trice…

I’m happy with it as such but would it be worth repairing?

would anyone know how much a new IS unit is? (-ish) – The unit makes all the right noises but nothing is happening…

Softness, really soft. The lens used to be very sharp so I think it just needs some aligning and tightening.

An educated stab in the dark, how much would this be? Who would you recommend in Cork to do it?

    thanks,

My guess is that if you have to send it overseas it won’t be worth your while. If there is someone local who can do it, I’d imagine Gunns can point you in that direction…..
