is this a filer?

hi all, still learning here, is this a filter i have on my camera lens? how do i remove it, it appears stuck, perhaps it wasn’t fitted correctly or damaged but it wont come off easily, i dont want to break it! it dosent seem even all the way round, like its missed the thread if its screwed on.
if it is a filter, whats it for? is says…. marumi dhg super circular pld 62mm

It does indeed look like a CPL – and you don’t want that on your lens – except for special circumstances. It reduces the light by approx 2 stops.
what will make this a little bit more tricky – is that the filter turns.
try this – and use rubber gloves for extra grip.

thanks guys, it was on the camera when i got it an assumed it was part of the lens, i had to press it down firm then use the rubber band trick! images a bit brighter now!
