Is this a good price for Bowens?

Hi I found a bowens esprit 250 kit for sale from a company in the UK for £299, consisting of 2 250 watt heads, protective caps, 2 umbrellas, stands, sync lead, power cords and the carry case. The image shows that the lights are in really great quality with all modeling bulbs and flashes in good working order.

Im considering purchasing them as its not often you come across a secondhand kit in Ireland, unless im wrong if so let me know.

Do you think this is a good price to pay, please let me know if you think this is a good offer and what I should do…

    Thanks

    Clive

    Hi Clive,

Sounds like a fair price. I’m wondering if the lights are in use though. The worst thing for them is to be stored under the bed or away in the bag without being used. You’re guaranteed a shorter life span. (Apparently 3 months according to a couple of experts I came to speak to at Photofest). They could blow up and when they do, you will know all about it, as there will be a loud bang! Sounds like a gun going off, it’s happened to me, I learned my lesson from that.

Sometimes suppliers aren’t so quick to give you tips on maintaining your equipment after purchase to provide a longer life. Now, I plug them in once a week and let a bit of power run through them even if they’re not in use.

    Michelle.
