Island Silhouette
-
vividimagesMember
One of the little Islands just off the shore at Lough Neagh Northern Ireland.
Setup was a B+W ND1000 + ND8 + ND2 Grad.
Editing crop and resize, slight desaturation to stop the colours clipping, then pushed up the vibrance. Removed some vegetation from the bottom of the frame.Main subject off center so text can be inserted on the left.
Comments more than appreciated.
Thanks for looking..Gareth

Love the stillness in the water!!
Trying to figure out where you took this from?? lol
stewart kennyMemberBMParticipantanimalParticipantvividimagesMemberBM I think the exposure on this one was about 6 mins.
Thanks for taking the time to look and comment.
GarethsndipoMemberpointyhedMemberDaveMurdochParticipantSteveDParticipanttexMemberI afraid the silhouette and its reflection lack any real impact because of its mundane shape. The colour of the sky is nice however.
vividimagesMemberTex, cheers for commenting and I think your right, I keep coming back and looking at the image and trying to figure out why I just wasn’t happy.
Im thinking if I reshoot it with 1 exposure for the sky and water and a 2nd exposure for the island it might work, once blended. As is viewing it onscreen small it really don’t look right but viewing it printed large seems to. Strange image.
What do you think.

Of course if you do that it won’t be a silhouette any more. No I think you have done the best with what you had in front of you. Sometimes everything can go your way except the shape. The important thing is that you saw the possibility in the shot before you. Nature does repeat itself all you have to be is to be alert to it.
