It was sitting in those lovely flowers

Madra RuaParticipant
I realise there have been some class Puffin shots here over the years.
But I like this for the nice contrast with flowers, the bird and the dark back.wesleylawMemberAlan RossiterParticipantI’d agree – nice shot Hauke. I’d rather see it bigger on here (not a link to Flickr) so that we could appreciate the real detail in the puffin that I think is there. Nice smooth composition too.
Where have you been hiding??
Alan
SeaviewParticipantThat’s a great shot, certainly could sit next too any of the existing shots on here of PuFfins. The detail and colour are perfect and the flowers also add nicely to the shot. Just wondering where’s the location and what lens did you use.
Dave.
RimaMembermgstParticipantMadra RuaParticipantThe photo was taken on Skellig Michael, County Kerry last weekend (June Bank Holiday).
I used a Canon 400D and a Simga 70-200mm F2.8 lens
(full name is actually: Simga APO 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG MACRO HSM  )
Converted in DPP and Paint Shop Pro X.Here is the larger sized, un-linked birdie… for Alan.
BrickeeParticipantkensutzParticipantGreat shot of the puffin. I’m heading out to the Saltees to see if I can get a few shots of these birds.
shutterbugParticipantAww thats just gorgeous, I would love to see a Puffin, but with a morbid
fear of water and all things boaty I need to get access on terra firma….is
Skellig an Island? :oops:ExpresbroParticipantLovely Hauke. These really are the strangest looking creatures to my eyes..but beautiful.
I remember Danny posted some excellent shots taken on Skellig Michael a long time back…seems to be the place to go for Puffin shots.

Where to see: The Puffin is found mainly on the west coast with a scattering of east coast sites.
Great Saltee is again a good place to see seabirds, including Puffins.
The Cliffs of Moher, in County Clare and Horn Head, in County Donegal, are also accessible sites.
If taking a trip to the Skelligs, which themselves have Puffins,
look out for Puffin Island, close to the mainland, another good site for the species.

It’s the large rock furthest away on the far right.

His Puffin shots are pure class.
I’d love get some photos of a similar standard.
I guess sunshine and blue skies would help for starters.RobMemberExcellent puffin shots Hauke, and that’s a pretty nice one
of the Skelligs too…Rob.
