Shot these two (among others, but these are really the only ones I like) at an airshow in Lido di Jesolo, the beach resort just outside Venice where I was 2 weeks ago. Noisy, because I am a dumbass and had left my camera on ISO1600 from some night shooting in Venice. DOH!
Despite the noise (DOH!!!) you’ve got two cracking shots there. Love the frozen propeller blades. It looks as though the planes should just drop out of the sky and hit the ground. Very different.
I dont mind the noise too much – or the lack of horizon at all – i am just wondering did you tweak those propellors ? In each shot they are almost perfectly aligned with each other which gives a very uniform look to the overall composition.
Well, as the horizon was much farther away than the planes were, to include the horizon would have meant wee tiny little planes. Not very interesting. No tweaking done on the propellors… the only work done on these was raw->jpeg conversion, with some exposure/white balance tweaks and a bit of high contrast curve on the first one.
