Hi all.
I haven’t really been doing much (photowise) lately, but did invest in a new 70-200mm f/2.8L ISII a few weeks ago. Today,I finally decided to take it out of the box & try it out. Autofocus is impressively fast & almost instantaneous. The viewfinder remains very bright compared to 70-300 f/4.5-5.6 lens & although the lens is fairly heavy in comparison to the 70-300, it feels nicely balanced on the 7D with battery grip. I found the tripod collar getting in the way while zooming, but I guess, it just needs a little practice to get used to it being there, or I could just remove it. The shot below was taken 102mm f/4 at 1/200sec handheld ISO 100 & the IS definitely seems to have helped to keep it sharp.
I hadn’t much time to try it out, but first impressions are good and am looking forward to spending more time with this lens soon. :D
Thanks Jenny.
I bought this lens as my Christmas present to me, as I just couldn’t convince anyone else to buy it for me.  It might not be much good for wildlife, but then again..it might be ok for the zoo. I wanted to try something other than macro for a while, but haven’t decided on what yet. Hopefully I’ll get some decent results using this lens, but if I can’t, I cannot blame the lens.
congrats M…best of luck with lens, when I saw the image I thought that the pikemen were on the march again!!
Had my own addition lately too, looking forward to some frosty mornings to start playing.
