I’ve got spotty eyes

Butterfly (green-veined white? I’ll wait for MJ to tell me) on herb-robert.
and a 100% crop….the focus seems to have just missed his spotty eyes.
RobMemberNice one Pete.
Only a tiny shame about the focus missing his spotty eye.
A greater shame, in my humble opinion, to have that touch
of pink in bottom left and top right corners, but you can’t always
go interfering with nature I suppose.
Nice detail in the ‘fur’ too.Rob.

shooting critters that don’t stay in one place longer than 1.5 seconds. And then you’re
trying to get a bit of leeway by shooting at f/11, and you’ve flowers in the way, flowers in the
background, shaking hands, wasps attacking you, flies crawling on you and autofocus jiggling
back and forth like it’s got St Vitus’ dance. I don’t know how Noely does it. I’m going to take a tube
of glue with me next time.Noely FParticipantDiazapam  and Manual focus……never use Auto!
Thats a sweet Butterfly Pete :wink:PeteTheBlokeMemberThanks Noely. Manual focus is normally a non-runner for me because I
have a PVD in both eyes. It means that I can seldom see a sharp image
when I’m squinting through the viewfinder. I probably should have another hobby really!Noely FParticipantAha…..I see! I sometimes have PVC in my eyes and a zipped hood….oops, forgot what forum I was on

Careful Pete he might use the Macro Voodoo on you
As for the shot, love the detail in the wings.
PeteTheBlokeMemberThanks RavenAsh. It is a bit scary when you see his photos and then discover he’s
an expert on witchcraft. I’ve long suspected him, mind you.
You only have to look back through his posts at some of his outrageous claims.
Take this for example…which coincidentally includes a spotty eye butterfly.https://www.photographyireland.net/viewtopic.php?p=8151
Oompah loompahs my foot!griangrafParticipantPete
Pardon the pun but spot on with the ID.
Noely
RavenAshMemberWolfy2k4MemberThat’s a really beautiful shot. I never realised they looked like that up close! You’re starting to make me want to buy a macro lens now. :)

Believe me Glenn, there’s always ONE more bit of kit….just one more….
And thanks, by the way.
jb7ParticipantOne more?
You’ve just got a new Macro lens,
surely you now need a Macro Focussing Rail to go with it?Each piece of gear leads to another piece of gear,
and is seldom an end in itself-I’m addicted to the stuff,
and it’ll never be ‘one more’Regarding your focus,
maybe firing off a few frames,
each at a slightly different micrometrically adjusted distance might help-
leave the focussing ring where it is, after you’ve set the rough distance-But maybe you’re doing that anyway-
A lovely animal,
I didn’t comment originally because you’d mentioned the focus yourself-Critting your own pictures will always lead to one less comment-
until you change the parameters-j
