ParadoxPicturesParticipant
I meant to have these up sooner but I had a few problems with posting images. So here we go!
These photos were taken in June during a short trip in Japan.
This is only a sample… I have a set of these on flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/paradox-pictures/sets/72157606224912643/
Let me know what you think… :)
ossie13ParticipantPeter great set, #2 is great like the processing works well………………Japan a place I would dearly like to visit!!
Cheers Steve
ParadoxPicturesParticipantThank you for the kind words Steve! :)
I would advise anyone to go there if they get a chance- it has to be experienced! I will maybe put a few of the city shots…
MartinOCParticipantBeautiful photos, I visited Kyoto & Nara 10 years ago on holiday. I’ll have to get down again before I leave here.
Number 2 is my favourite, but all are great.
Martin
Liam2673Participantnumber 4 my favourite but all good…Would definitely welcome seeing more from your Japan photos; these clearly focus on one aspect of Japanese culture, do you have any that focus on Japanese cities and what they are like…?
ParadoxPicturesParticipantThanks Martin- Kyoto was the best city that we visited. I fell in love with the traditional areas and was always surprised that just across the river were arcades and shopping complexs to rival any other major city in the world. Nara on the other hand did not imprint as heavily in my mind… Maybe it was our travel weary mindset that drove us out of Nara as fast. Also, it was the only city that was teeming with tourist groups.
Liam I will post up a few city photos now. :)
The cities were insane! On one hand you have tranquil cafes and bars rooted in traditionally cobbled streets; yet, on the other hand were the hyper-modern neo-cities that never sleep. The pace of living in cities like Tokyo and Osaka does rival their ‘Shinkansen’ [bullet train]- millions of people milling tirelessly between workplaces and department stores; chaotic arcades and nightclubs. I would not rush back to Tokyo. In Ireland there are maybe 7 million people [?] on the whole island but in Tokyo there are 30 million in one city! In areas like Shinjuku the subway station sees about 10 million people per day! Although I say that I would not rush back there I strongly suggest it to everyone- it must be experienced. :)

DeeboParticipantMartinOCParticipantAlthough it is a very busy city Tokyo, it is very efficient, clean and very safe. I have found it a lot less stressful to live here than in Dublin or London.
Commuting is easy, even if people are packed in – although I don’t live far from work, which is not the norm here.
Tokyo is not such a great tourist spot, but a great place to live.
Japan is expensive for tourism, 3 weeks might cost as much as 3 months travel in SE Asia.I met a couple from Dublin here recently who came to Tokyo to eat for two weeks. The food is amazing, even my French friends agree, although English menus are hard to find. Camera shops are great too.
I’ll be sorry to leave.M
Liam2673ParticipantWould love to visit……I spent a good spell in Asia, but was always nervous that I would spend more going from the airport to the city centre of Tokyo than in a month travelling in Laos or China…..actually since those days I’d say Japan has become a good deal cheaper, not least because of the weaker yen, so maybe now a good time to go……
Do you have any people shots? or indeed food/market shots? Do they do the outdoor night markets in Japan?
ParadoxPicturesParticipantJapan was not nearly as costly as we had expected which worked out great!
I have shots from the Tsukuji Fish Market but I have not posted these anywhere at the minute. I wish I had the time to post them up or even the time to go back over all the photos but I am running a year long project and this eats up most of my free minutes. I will have more up when I can… =]
kavanadbParticipantThese are really good, you should be proud. You certainly have a flair for portraits and composing, i’m impressed. I love when you see pictures of a place and immediately crave being there
ParadoxPicturesParticipantThank you very much Desmond! When the world presents you so many amazing faces it is such a joy to try and capture all of the expressions and glances as they happen…
-By the way I am loving your blogspot space!
