I’m not sure a pic from a DSLR will ever qualify as Lo Fi-
and you know what’d happen if you posted one there-People would just get their own back, and ignore it…
nfl-fanParticipantPeople would just get their own back, and ignore it…
Great. An opportunity to start a “50 views and no replies” rant and a subsequent debate “What defines LoFi?”
J
Liam2673Participant“Well. nfl deigned to introduce a topic somewhat related to photography-
In General Chat.”a noble thought…..
I was trying to square unofficial Fianna Failers, word association and general chat moderator but just couldn’t bring it all together in my head….. (I read good though).
Feel a bit more comfortable now its been summarised and book-ended.
nfl-fanParticipantA noble thought?
Well.. Members Announcements isn’t really my thing –
Joe: I got my pic posted in the newspaper.
Member1: Well done Joe.
Member2: That’s great Joe.
Member3: Great News Joe.
Joe: Thanks everyoneGeneral Chat is a more personal, expressive & usually fun route to doing the same thing. The only problem with this route is that the reason for celebration is often overlooked by the hecklers.
Mick451Participantnfl-fanParticipantOffline… you mean “Real World”?
I don’t use Internet lingo to describe things. The use of the word ‘Trolling’ was probably devised by some spotty internet geek who lives his life on the internet, telling Maria in Italy he’s tall, dark & handsome and works as a firefighter by day and Chippendale by night, who then gets really upset when Sanjay in Bombay types something in a chat room or forum that really p*sses spotty internet geek off. Then there’s a power cut, his computer goes off and all of a sudden he’s all alone afraid to open the curtains for fear that sunshine might give him skin cancer.
nfl-fanParticipantI should have just started a thread called “Let’s discuss the PI events of the past week”.
Sorry Joseph… you’re moment of glory… totally over-shadowed by talk of post count, deleted threads, hecklers et al.
Liam2673ParticipantInternet is the real world. As per Denver Dolls post a few days back, 1 in 8 married couples in the USA now meet on internet chat rooms. Doesn’t get more real than that.
I used to go to set dancing lessons in a community hall in Rathmines….the MC would announce with some pride every couple of weeks: “since we started 15 years ago we’ve had 29 marriages and 42 children”…..the set dancing class was its own little world with its own little cliques. (Not one I’d go back to being honest, i was just doing a favour for my cousing who loved to dance, I didn’t marry her in case you’re wondering).
Set dancing, internet, its all part of the real world. There’s a good chance internet geek marries sanjay from bombay, with the ceremony conducted in txt (although there’s also a good chance that sanjay is just doing it for the visa, besides geek could only live in Bombay during the rainy season and thats no fun at all).
nfl-fanParticipantWell, I’m not American and Set Dancing isn’t typically done over the internet (cue a post to a link “Set Dancing Tutorial”).
I switch off the computer, and bar the people I’ve met in person on this site, nobody else really exists to me.
nfl-fanParticipantActually… this is something that interests me given my tendencies to analyse people’s behaviour and habits on the internet. Time for a new thread to discuss.
jb7Participantand I thought it was all about me…
Set dancing Liam?
Not marrying your cousin?
What a lucky escape…Cue Dueling Banjos…
Mick451Participantjb7ParticipantLiam2673ParticipantNormally I am quite a good dancer actually…..especially if its The Smiths.
But when it comes the the Set Dancing….I could say ‘a h’aon, a do, a tri, a ceathar’ but I couldn’t dance to it. But there was always some girl who could lift me up and put me where I was supposed to be if I made the wrong steps. Good people, but tough.
