Jeff Buckley Campaign
-
PD_BARBSParticipant
I see there is a campaign doing the rounds on the internet to try and get the Jeff Buckley version of Hallelujah as the number 1. Has to be worth a download, just to take the smile of Simon Cowells face.
So support the campaign.
guthrijParticipantThis is a no brainer. Jeff Buckley was a musician. Leonard Cohen writes great songs but he can’t play the guitar. The wannabie from X factor won a crappy talent contest.
Jeff Buckley’s version is sublime. We should all download it.
Is it just me or is the whole world shite?
John
EeyoreParticipantNot too gone on the xfactor version either, I am slightly partial to the Jon Bon Jovi version!
PD_BARBSParticipantIf you don’t know what the Jeff Buckley version sounds like, check this out.

Great !!!!
FintanParticipantExpresbroParticipantI heard a story on the radio recently that said that Cowell wont care either ways as he owns the rights for Buckley’s version too!!
Not sure if it’s true or just a ploy to put people off buying Buckley’s version.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he did though.
Frankly, I wont be losing sleep worrying about it though
Poulet et Lait…MemberAlan RossiterParticipantSimon Cowells company owns the rights to the song and as from the middle of last week they were taking in £1/4 million per day from sales of the songs by the 3 artists. What ever you think of him he knows how to take advantage of a situation.
Alan
FintanParticipantAs far as I know Sony BMG get the dosh from all the Hallelujah’s , not Cowell directly, except artists signed on his Syco label i.e. Alexandra Burke. Syco’s parent company is Sony BMG so it’s anyones guess how the profit is shared etc but I doubt Cowell gets any of the Jeff Buckley royalties. Cowell is also employed by Sony BMG as A+R Exec.
JMcLParticipantMaybe we should up the stakes in the campaign and try to get John Cale’s rather excellent version at #2 as well?
