Rob,
Jeremiah has a very interesting face, don’t you think?
This picture and his expression reminds me a little of a
pic I saw some time ago of Morrissey (of The Smiths).
Nice one.
jb7ParticipantYes, can see how you make that out Seoirse-
Really not liking the pink, Rob, had to get that out of the way-
Is that tone all down to lighting?
Is the subject’s colouring making me think that there’s been some use of the shadow/highlight slider,
or is it the light?I know that there’s some lighting from below, there’s just something about the tone…
Another leaning in one, I’m really not sure about the way it hunches the shoulders…
That said, good portrait, very direct-
and good to see you posting again, that’s the main thing-
Very good Rob-
and I’m sure I’m wrong about all my idle musings-Like the background too-
RobMemberThank you George, Joseph…
Pink? I’m not getting that one. Perhaps something went wrong along the way,
so here’s an edit that definitely doesn’t have any pink…Lighting is all coming from behind, strong sunlight through a rather grimy
window, and reflected back from several sheets of A3 paper lying on the table
upon which Jeremiah had the good grace to lean, so no use of shadow/highlights
sliders in this case. His complexion is quite ruddy, a consequence of spending
quite a lot of time working outdoors, and that may have something to do with
the density of the tone…And yes, good to be back posting again. In spite of myself I’ve missed the place…
nfl-fanParticipantReally striking gaze, lovely detail in the face, I find it a bit bright in the background… but liking it a lot nonetheless.

AlessiaParticipantRob, great portrait, I like very much the light and the details… look at those eyes…wonderful!!!!!!
RobMemberThanks John, Alessia. Glad you like it…
And yes Alessia, the eyes. Surprised me too. I never expected
that level of engagement when I asked him to sit for me…orla_fParticipantFantastic portrait – as mentioned already, wonderful eyes, pin sharp. Lovely.
sirvadMemberI dont get the pink issue either Rob.
This is very nice portrait of a great subject with great eyes for photography. only downside for me is the very bright background which id tone down if it were mine. Well done budRobMemberTinyMemberI think its a great shot, love the lighting on the face, and the detail in the eyes, really sharp. Well done
Niall
