Just bought a D80!!!! Any Suggestions?

Congrats on the purchase Colin..and welcome to the D80 club. There are several good books that go into detail on the camera and are more logically laid out and easily understood than the supplied manual. I found the Magic Lantern Guide http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/WEBSITE/WWW/WEBPAGES/showbook.php?id=1600591124 pretty useful and there are plenty of websites out there with helpful folks willing to offer advice (you’re actually on one of the best  ). There is a really good D80 Flickr group which has a lot of helpful tutorials relating specifically to the D80 as well.
The two things I’d suggest you put top of your wish list are and SB600/800 Speedlight and a Nikkor 50mm f1.8 Prime lens ( really cheap and wonderful).
Have fun…and don’t be slow to ask any questions of us really helful Nikon users…. :D

I have the D80 for a yr now.
I find 95% of the time you need to drop your exposue to -0.3 or -0.7 to get it right. Its rare I shoot on 0.0 exposure.
Its a very sturdy camera, and Ive had no problems at all with it, although if you use a very long shutter (20sec+) I find it has a bit of trouble saving the image and can take quite a while to save it, but I expect thats normal.
Good luck with it, you wont be disappointed!
Thanks man, I’ll bear that in mind when I’m using it . . .

As default Nikon have long exposure noise reduction turned on for long exposures, if you turn if off it saves instantly. (something to do with the camera taking a second image and using it to reduce the noise by comparing the two pics, its called “Dark Frame Subtraction” if you want to look it up:-))
