Kenya – Nakuru & Masai Mara

What happens when an F1 photographer goes to Kenya…a few from 2005.
1 – Lioness, 500mm lens, 1dmk2
2 – Flamingoes, 500mm lens, 1dmk2
3 – Storm Clouds, 20-35mm lens, Eos 3-HS Fuji Velvia
4 – Leopard, 500mm + 1.4x extender, 1dmk2
5 – Cheetah, 70-200mm, 1dmk2
[/img]I like the skyline shot a lot. Lovely colours and the bend in the horizon really works for me. I bet it looks good in print.
Normally you expect wildlife shots to be close cropped and up close. But sometimes the exception works. My eyes keep coming back to the Leopard shot. The colours a super and the depth of the shot really makes me feel like I’m there.
Love the lioness, the storm clouds and the leopard. For me, the cheetah shot is the weakest here. I can’t help
but to turn my head to correct the horizon, and after reading the title, I had to go and search for the cheetah.
The lioness shot, on the other hand, is simply stunning as a wildlife shot.Rob.
Stunning work Mark… I really like the Leopard… to me the best wildlife shot I have seen on these forums… absolutely beautiful…! What more can I say…!

I like them all, Lion in stunning! Was it just after a kill? Her teeth look a little red.
Would have loved to see the cheetah with the 500mm.

Another jaw dropped here. The only one I’m not blown away by is the cheetah shot.
The leopard has to be easily the best leopard shot that I can remember seeing for a LONG time!
Can’t wait to see some more.

The lion shot was taken just after a mating session she was having with a big male! It was a growl telling him to watch it!!! I took the cheetah shot with the 500mm aswell, but I don’t like it as it’s just another tight-in shot. I like the cheetah shot as it shows the environment in which they live. And also, it is quite hard to notice the cheetah, just like it is when you’re driving around the Mara looking for them…it’s not like a zoo where you visit each section…some days you find all the animals everywhere, other days you just drive around and around seeing none of the big 5.

So true. Spent most of my two weeks in Tanzania standing int he back of the truck scanning for wildlife. One day we saw almost nothing for most of the day. Another we saw something like 8 prides of Lions including a wildebeest kill.
Amazing shots. Fair play.
I also really like the Lion and the Leopard shot.
