John, the setup was really quite simple for this. It’s just two lights, one on
full power aimed behind the couple at the corner between wall and ceiling,
the second in front just above head height at a 45 degree angle with the
power reduced a couple of stops. I got both of them to wear plain white for
the shoot and exposed for the skin tones. No backdrops involved; I’ve
painted the top half of my kitchen white to make the most of natural light
during the day (it’s also great for setting manual white balance ;) ).
I’m using the Elinchrom D-Lite 2 kit which I trigger with a prolinca infrared
hotshoe mount, so that eliminates the problem of tripping over sync cords.
Nice and simple. I’d recommend that particular kit as a good starter; it’s
been updated since I got mine, and also come down in price. Give Paddy
