It is without a doubt a beautiful place and one of the places me and my camera love visiting.

    THE BOATING LAKE

    THE GAP OF DUNLOE

this one was shortlisted and published in the Schamp Travel Guide this month (Aug ’09)

    TORC WATERFALL

    LOWER LAKE

All comments and feedback are welcome as none of these have been edited or changed in anyway.

    Cheers

    Angela,

I like the first one but it’s getting a little hazy towards the background. Perhaps a polarising filter would help here.

I also the the Torc waterfall shot. However the rocks in the foreground are too bright and distracting from the waterfall itself. They need to be darkened a little.

I was thinking that myself at the time when I took the shots but only recently got a polarising filter as all I had that day was a uv filter, will be out their again no doubt taking a few more shots.

    Thanks for the feedback!

Lovely shots that could be improved by little compostional changes, e.g.:

#1 Angle camera down slightly to raise the boats in the frame and get the far shore nearer a third
#2 Again, aim down to include more of the road and have the walkers more dominant. They are a great dynamic contrast to the fixed scene and, IMO, should be made an important part of the shot
#3 The weakest shot, you need to have been much closer and, possibly, lower down watching for stronger foreground elements
#4 Nice idea, but don’t crop the lower rocks – use them as an item of foreground interest. The leaf in the top left should either be complete out of frame or used more prominently to frame the view

For me, there are two main things to remember for most landscape shots – provide fore/mid/background interest and use the rules of thirds to line key elements up.

    Hi Brendan

Thanks for the comments/tips, I am still learning but I do take your points on board. To be honest, I am hoping to take photography as an elective in college this coming September so I can learn how to take a better shot with the fore/mid/background and what to look out for in a photo.

I am still learning, so this site gives me a lot of tips and tricks to try out for future shots.

    Cheers for the feedback.

    Angela
