Killurin Bridge – Long Exposure
-
Alan RossiterParticipant
Ivar – I’ve just spent the last 3/4 hour going through Toms Flickr and site – this guy is good! I’d recommend anyone to have a look – it’s varied but strikingly attractive work. Unique is an over used word but he certainly has a flow and taste that I like and don’t often see so consistently. Thanks for the links!
Alan.
wesleylawMemberVery nice Alan. The longer I look at it the more it grows on me. I look forward to seeing more of these.
plainoldmeMemberWow, That’s a great shot. Know the place well, and have to laugh because I was down there on Sunday, and saw somebody taking photos. Now I’m convinced it was you!!!
Alan RossiterParticipantplainoldmeMemberCould’ve been. I’m not sure exactly what time it was but it was early enough!
I have relatives in Glynn, so I was down there for two days, and in Carraig on Bannow/Fethard with friends for a Communion two days beforehand!BeamCatcherParticipantNot a bother Alan. -he DOES have some cool shots alright… See ya mate! Ivar ;-)
SteveDParticipantBallymanParticipantHi Wonka
Where did you purchase the Cokin p156 filter? I’m looking to get one as I have invested in a cokin system.
I have a B+W 110 but it’s the wrong size for my current lens so I was looking at this onw. Would you recommend it? Even to a relative beginner low on cash:) ?
Alan RossiterParticipantI woouldn’t recommend it at all. Stay away from it. It’s somewhere between 15 & 18 stops…that’s a long day. Also when you use the Cokin system with such a long exposure light leaks around the edge of the filter and it doesn’t work. I made a light block from a piece of card and thin sponge but it wasn’t worth the hassle. I got more shots from a welders mask than this piece of 541t. You could get a replacement glass for a welders mask for about €1. It’s 15 stops, but for €1 you will get a bit of fun from it. The problem with Cokin, and this glass is also the reflection from the innards of the lens coming through on the image.
Why not get a step up or step down ring for the ND 110. I use a 77mm ND 110 on an 82mm lens with a step down ring with no consequences.Alan
PS – In summary – save your money!!
BallymanParticipantThe filter I have is a 58mm version and my lens is 67mm. Would this not cause excessive vignetting? I’ll gove it a try anyway and see how I get on. Cheers.
mcmartinParticipantBeautiful photo Alan… really nice effect… have to agree about top right corner weird halo there…
what cokin kit , could you post a link?
Alan RossiterParticipantGoogle the P series for Cokin. The P156 is classed as a filte for looking at the sun but I wouldn’t bother.
nfl-fanParticipantBallyman… I have a 67mm B+W ND 110… the same famous filter that everyone around here is using.
Never used. Just took it out for a look… but then got the 77mm version.
If you want it send me a PM and make me an offer I can’t refuse.

b318ispParticipantInteresting shot and the results are very good. You must be very patient or very good at setting up before pressing the shutter. I have used ND4s with a ND2 grad (and even a cpl on top) but have never been happy with the results. I think the trick is to balance the filtration with the amount of light available with the effect you’d like to achieve. I guess you have good light to use such strong filtration.
