Three shots for my last roll (Fuji Pro400). Kimono (着物: 着 means to wear; 物 a thing/object).
MartinThe shutter-speed seems to be too slow here. I like the eye contact between the guy in the suit and the girl, but as it is not so sharp it is barely noticeable.
Liam2673Participantfirst doesn’t do much for me; I like the combo of the traditional dress and the funky modern pram in the second, shows that Kimono is every-day wear, not just special occasions. Eye contact in the third is super, real split second stuff there, well done.
MartinOCParticipantThanks Liam,
The third was a fluke, I was snapping the girls, the eye contact became apparent after developing!Martin
streetshooterMember1 and 2 are very pedestrian (sic) but the third is a lovely shot – lots to see, the eye contact you mention, the colours – could spend a long time just gazing – very nice street shot!
MartinOCParticipantThanks Streetshooter.
In fact I think the same about the first, but like 2 the best. The reason why I like 2 the best, is because I was searching to get geometry in my photos and this is the first one where I thought I succeeded.
But that of course doesn’t make it a good photo, it just makes me happy.
The clown appeared and then the infant stretched out to have a look, and I got a sense of a triangle with: the mother holding the pushchair, the infant studying the clown and the clown watching back (he is watching the adults but it’s not apparent here I think).
I also like the contrast of the banality of shoe-shopping with the unusualness of kimono and clown in a street scene.I subscribe to Winogrand’s view that you may not be objective about your own photos until long after they are taken.
It is good to hear what others think.Cheers,
Martin
