Taken out the window of my old office through glass.
Going to work one morning I saw this bird flying around the door of my office. I thought initially that it was a bird that had escaped from a cage, the colours were so spectacular. Throughout the morning I realised it was a Kingfisher. He flew up and down the river (Boyne) and even perched on my window. I brought my camera back after lunch and he duly obliged by posing for me :D I had never seen him before and I never saw him again.
The first picture reached the finals of the ESB Environmental Awards (sadly no longer in existance) a few years ago and toured the country.
You know what they say about luck and photography!
Clicking on the second one will bring you to Flickr where you can see a bigger version by clicking on the magnifying glass over the image.
ciaranParticipantThat first shot is just WOW! Ok, it’s a pity about the wire fence, but apart from that, it’s such a beautiful shot. Pin sharp, great colour.. exceptional.
ValentiaMemberThanks Ciaran. The fence is a pain alright.
I am cloning out some of the more distracting bits of the fence. I will be sending you the pics for the book in the next hour, of which this is one. Let me know if the cloning works ok.

RobertoMemberJohn DunneParticipantWow Stunning stunning shots. If i took either of those id hang up my camera. My work would be done.
joe_elwayParticipantThese were the Office shots I was referring to in the other KF thread. Fantastic.
Noely FParticipantI’m envious…..very …very….jealous  I spend ages hunting for a decent shot of a Kingfisher and ya shoot one from yer office window.Nevermind all these camoflaged hides…..I’m making one that looks like an office building
Stunning shots, well done indeed :wink:ValentiaMemberstuttterMemberexcellent shots!
one tiny thing I’d look at is removing the tiny slice of fence that runs along the bottom of the second shot.
